Quality, in-house training tailored to your schedule and teams.
In-House Electric Utility Training
In-house classes offer electric utilities a more cost effective way of providing employees with training by eliminating the cost of employee travel. If you coordinate training for your utility or company you can reach out to PTS at any time to schedule events or discuss course options.
What classes are available?
EUSO - Electric Utility System Operations is available in a 1-day, 2-day or 3-day format.
EDS - Electric Distribution Systems is available in a 2-day format.
EUBO - Electric Utility Business Operations is available in a 1-day format.
GRID - The Smart Electric Grid is available in a 1-day format.
How do I determine whether the 1-day, 2-day or 3-day version of EUSO is better?
For a utility without generation, the 2-day version works well because the generation part of the course can be minimized. The 3-day version works better for any class that desires a thorough understanding of generation. If attendees need a thorough understanding of power factor (sometimes referred to in terms of VARs, reactive power, or capacitors) the 3-day class is necessary.
The 3-day version is recommended for any class with a significant number of people in technically oriented jobs. These jobs include engineering, safety, drafting, SCADA professionals, any type of trade craft position from line crews to substation electricians, relay technicians, instrumentation and controls technicians, account executives, purchasing, environmental professionals, engineering managers and system operators.
The 2-day class is optimal for customer service professionals, legal, accountants, administrative-support staff, communications and marketers, financial analysts, economists, upper level management and members of the board of directors.
Tips and Options If You Are Not the Training Department
Option 1
Contact your training department to see if bringing the class in-house is feasible. We will work with your training staff to make it a smooth process. The number one goal of a training department should be to ensure that the employees have the best training available. We help accomplish this goal!
Option 2
If you do not have a training department, have your work team sponsor a course for your group.
Option 3
Contact your local or regional trade association and urge them to set up regional training classes.
